The Transforming Power when Jesus Reigns

”For I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your uncleanness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My ordinances and do them. You will live in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you will be My people, and I will be your God.” Ezekiel 36:24-28

When God gave us our local community to share His love, it initially was very disheartening. It looked like a tough assignment. Crimes were prominent in the area. Drug pushers were everywhere. Many were jobless which is why prostitution was the norm. Teenage gangs were causing fear and havoc to people and property. Dysfunctional families were common.

All we know was the power of God and that we were called to be the light and salt in our area. We believed that only Jesus is the answer to all their problems. Through sharing the gospel, building genuine relationships, and prayer, we first got hold of the hearts of the children and then the children eventually started bringing their parents. Suddenly the impossible started to happen. Transformation was taking place. From being a community of law breakers, they are now responsible citizens. From jobless to now entrepreneurs. From peddling drugs to now actively participating in drug recovery programs to help others be free from drugs. Even the TV networks started to take notice of these changes that they have made a feature of the church more than three times in different stations.

What changed? People had decided to make Jesus Reign in the life. This is the transforming power that God releases when His people return to Jesus.

PRAYER

We pray for every community in our nation. May more churches be planted to be light and salt in their area. We pray for your transforming power to go with them.
