40-days in the Word

Day 40: Released by God for God

“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

                                                                                    Isaiah 40:28-31

We have been created by God with a purpose and for a purpose. We are not meant to live this life aimlessly but to fulfill that which we have been created for. We are already equipped and empowered by God to fulfill our destiny. And yet, many of us find ourselves in prison, a prison that we can easily walk out from. Why? Because Jesus already bought our freedom with his blood and has set us free from our sins. He has already delivered us and released us from the things that oppress us! You and I are free. We have been set free from sin, fear, insecurity, jealousy, anger, bitterness, and hatred. Sin no longer has control over us. The chain has been broken, and the prison door is open, and yet, we are still inside.

God is calling us out. We need to heed His voice. Let us step out of our prison cells and live as we are meant to live – free. Free to be what God has called us to be. Free to fulfill His purposes for our lives. Free to serve God with everything that we are and have. Free to pursue the things of God. Free to approach God with confidence, knowing who we are in Jesus.

We are called to be free, but we should not use our freedom to indulge the flesh but rather to serve one another in love. And this is God’s promise as we step out of our prison cells – that as we wait, expect, look for, and hope for the Lord, He will give us new strength. We will not grow weary nor tired for our strength and power will be renewed by Him. As we put our trust in Him, we will walk through life without giving up. We will overcome whatever challenges that come our way because Jesus already overcame them for us. Even when we fall, we will get up, dust ourselves off, and keep moving.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I want to step out of my prison cell and live as you have meant me to live – free. I want to fulfill the purpose for which you have created me. I want to love you and serve you with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Help me to pursue you above all things. In Jesus’ name,  amen.
