2 Corinthians 3:12
“Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!” are the immortal words from the “I Have a Dream” speech that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered during a demonstration for freedom in the US in 1963. Dr. King brought a message of hope and freedom to African-Americans who have endured injustice for centuries. His inspiring words moved many to advance the cause of the civil rights movement peacefully.
The message that Paul brings us in 2 Corinthians 3:12 should spur us to advance the cause of the kingdom of God with even greater boldness. We can shout, “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I am free at last!” because we are truly free. We just have to believe that we are absolutely free. We don’t have to fight for that freedom for it has already been won for us. Jesus bought our freedom with his blood and set us free from our sins. He has already delivered us and released us from the things that oppress us. The very presence of Jesus in our lives gives us the freedom to serve God. We can speak boldly, openly, and freely about Him and what He has done. We can worship God in spirit and in truth!
Let us, therefore, not take for granted the freedom that Jesus bought for us. Let us all put aside the things that still hinder us from pursuing the things of God and rise up! Let us advance the cause of the kingdom of God with boldness standing on the freedom we have in Jesus.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank you for the freedom that you bought for me with your blood. Thank you that you have already given me the boldness to speak freely about your goodness, mercy and love. Amen.
