Day 33: A New Creation

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

                                                                                     2 Corinthians 5:17

Addiction has many faces- alcohol, porn, money and social media. It creeps into our system and before we know it, it controls us. Our once good life has turned sour. To some extent, relationships end, reputations ruined and families are broken. We resort to different steps in our attempt to self-heal. Then we realize that no self-help books or TED Talk can fix us. We are in dire need of a Savior.

In today’s verse, we are told that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Take note that the words used are – new creation. Not a version 2.0 of yourself but a new one. Take courage in stepping out of your addiction and embrace the love of Jesus. He is the only one able to create a new you.

PRAYER

Jesus, I am not worthy of You. I am a sinner, broken and beyond repair. But I trust Your words are true. I want to be with You. Make me into the new creation who bows down humbly at Your feet with gratitude for the life that I am about to experience. Amen

APPLICATION

Identify your addiction and surrender it to Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what you need to do to step out of it and then ask for boldness and determination to do it.
