Day 29: The Struggle is Real BUT Victory is Yours!

Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.”

                                                                                          Romans 6:14

Are you struggling with sin? Do you find yourself wanting to do what is right, but instead do what you are not supposed to do? The struggle is real, as they say, BUT victory is yours!

Paul tells us in Romans 6:14 that sin is no longer our master. Sin doesn’t rule our lives anymore. It doesn’t control how we live. Sin’s hold on us has been broken when we accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. We have been set free!

But why do I keep sinning, you may ask. Look at it this way, for years, we have allowed sin to reign in our lives, giving in to its power to dictate how we should conduct our lives. Walking away from that which controlled us for years is hard but not impossible. Shifting our allegiance from sin to Jesus requires that we allow Jesus to reign over our lives. When we make Jesus our Lord and Master, we need to keep yielding our body to God. We need to give in to His power to shape our character and show us how to live godly and righteous lives. We have to make a conscious decision to refuse to go back to that which enslaved us. We have to renew our mind. How? By replacing and fixing our thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable; and thinking about things that are excellent and worthy of praise (Phil 4:8). We do these things not with our own strength but with the strength, wisdom and grace of God.
