“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42
I used to juggle teaching and leadership role in ministry. There were times that I would go home drained and barely able to stay awake. It came to a point where my time with God started to get affected. I tried to convince myself that what I was doing is for the kingdom. And as such, it should compensate for the time I used to spend in prayer and worship, right?
No. Nothing can ever replace the intimacy that we develop in being with God. I had become like Martha. Just like you and me, we need to remember that in the busyness of life, only One matters. Jesus reminded Martha to choose the One she needed, the One who matters.
Do you find yourself overwhelmed with life’s daily challenges? Set aside time to be still and allow God to minister to you.
PRAYER
Lord, forgive me for being worried and upset about many things. Help me to live my life for you in daily worship of what You have done and who You are. Remind me that You matter more than anything or anyone in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
APPLICATION
Take the time today to just be with Jesus. Be still and listen. Let Him minister to you.
