“Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
How intimate is your relationship with God?
Who are you when you are not listening to your favourite preacher, without a praise and worship band, and not in a church gathering? Can you delight in the Lord in your private time alone with Him?
If you need to jumpstart your relationship with the Lord, there are a few things you can do. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you as you read the Bible – ask for wisdom and understanding. Do not rush but instead wait on the Lord with an expectant heart. Then when a verse speaks to your heart, ask God what is it that He wants to tell you. Get a journal ready to write down what the Lord is speaking to you in your heart. Let God fill you with His love. Then be in a position of rest. Thank God for everything that you have and went through. Worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, through creative expressions such as songs, dance, and painting.
As you go cultivate this kind of relationship, you will realize that the desire of your heart is not things of this world but is being in the presence of the Almighty.
Father, your word is alive, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Speak to me and let your word penetrate my mind, heart, soul and spirit. I want to bring in alignment my attitude and thoughts with what you desire most for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today, break your usual routine and spend time listening to God and allowing Him to fill you with His love.
