Behind the Scenes
“[We are treated] as unknown and ignored [by the world], and [yet we are] well-known and recognized [by God and His people]; as dying, and yet here we are alive; as chastened by suffering and [yet] not killed.” (2 Corinthians 6:9)
In every church service, there are people who really serve behind the scenes. These are the people that come to church maybe two or three hours before the church program begins. They clean the toilets, parking lots, and worship hall. They take charge of mixing the audio so that the congregation can hear clearly all the way to the back. They intercede for the service that is about to take place. They are the welcome committee who prepare the coffee and snacks and greet everyone at the door.
These tasks may seem small and often underappreciated, but not by our Heavenly Father. Though the world may overlook these workers, their acts of service are great in Gods eyes. Serving in this way becomes unadulterated because they serve with no interest for fame, fortune or power. The people behind the scenes know that who they are really serving is bigger than any superstar. He is King Jesus.
People who serve with the audience of one are the real stars. They are the people that don’t need recognition because they are just too happy to be serving their King.
PRAYER
Lord, open my eyes to see the kind of service that is of highest value to you. Give me a heart to serve without seeking recognition because my worth comes from you
