Be Filled with the Spirit
“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:1 5-18)
What does making the most of your time have to do with the days being evil? Well, Paul is telling us that because this world is evil, we must take every opportunity that comes our way to win souls. We can’t slack off; there is just too much at stake.
The truth is whether you are new to the faith or an old timer, there are people around you who are just waiting for you to stumble in your walk with Christ. Once you do, they will jump in and say, “See, I told you so. He’s a fake.” Some of them will even drag Jesus and your faith into the picture and say “That’s why I don’t want to join this Jesus thing…”
Paul warns us to be careful how we walk. The devil, knowing what a prized catch you are, will place all sorts of temptations and traps everywhere you go. He watches you, ready to pounce on your weak spots. So please be wise. Do not be caught drunk with wine as this gets your guards down. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
Now the question is: Are you filled with the Spirit?
PRAYER
Lord, we don’t want to misrepresent you. We are your
ambassadors. May we always be filled with the spirit and
wise in our walk, knowing that the world we live in is
not our home.
