Day 5: Thursday, 25 October 2018

Our Victorious God

“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.” (1 Samuel 17:45)

How you see God matters! Many of us say “God is Almighty” but when problems arise, we often find ourselves struggling and sometimes even doubting if God is in control or if He really cares about our situation.

David saw God for who He is. He is sovereign. He is the Reigning King. He is the God Almighty! That is why when Goliath was mocking God, he did not hesitate to step in because David knew who His God really is.

There will be times when we will face giants that appear stronger, more powerful, fully equipped, and with more resources than us. But you can hold on to the word of God that says, “greater is He that is in you than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4b). When Jesus reigns in your life, you will walk in the path of victory. As you do God’s work of sharing the gospel and discipling people, know that you have God of heaven’s armies with you. Be bold and courageous and declare that Jesus Reigns.

PRAYER

Lord, help me go deeper in knowing you. Let me see that you are the reigning King in the battles of my life. I know I am victorious because I have you.

APPLICATION

Have you been putting off a calling of God in your life? Know that you are on the side of victory! March on and take your first step in obedience.
